Alex Kay

After working as a geologist for many years Alex decided to study art and graduated with a 1st Class Honours Degree in Painting and Drawing from Grays School of Art, Aberdeen in 2007.

In her work and lifestyle she strives to combine art and science, both sides being strongly inspired by evolution. Life evolves and, as part of life, her art invokes a developmental sequence that mirrors evolution. She works indoors and out, drawing ecological themes from the ever changing landscape overlaying soft translucent fabric folds with strongly feminine and domestic still life items.

Alex's work involves a range of techniques to render increasingly subtle effects incorporating the transience of possessions and the essential aesthetic of the overlooked.
