A graduate of Edinburgh College of Art, Elaine's work is inspired by things domestic, those objects with which we are so familiar and which are so intrinsically linked to our daily routines that they are often overlooked and taken for granted.
These simple objects have the ability to forge a link with very specific memories in time or place perhaps an actual event. Elaine's work evolves from her personal response to such memories through her manipulation of paint, in particular colour, developing the work until the final abstract image is complete.
