Martin Lawless' paintings depict city life. His source of inspiration comes from the common, but extraordinary, features of urban life. He is particularly interested in portraying 'a sense of what is going on' and in doing so he paints public places where people go, or pass by every day, but do not give a second glance to; tenement blocks, takeaways, launderettes and pubs.
He paints with oil on canvas, metal, board and other media.
Martin has a BA (Hons) in drawing and painting from Edinburgh College of Art.
