Frances is a 2008 graduate from Edinburgh College of Art. Throughout her years of study 'portraiture' has been the aspect of painting which has most interested Frances, however, an essential element of this has been making her portraits differ from the normal concept of the genre including their installation and display.
This body of work has come from a variety of different sources including portraiture from the traditional 15th century to the present day, film (specifically melodrama, film noir and romance) and photography both art and fashion. 'I have been focusing specifically on couples in portraiture along with the romantic and traditional notion of the ideal or 'perfect' couple and combining this with my research into film and photography'.
